Sunday Saying

As you aim to stick to those New Year resolutions or the sacrifices you made for Lent, remember this thought from Lance Armstrong ...
Pain is temporary - Quitting lasts forever.
If you have stumbled with your goals, stand up straight and try again. And even if you've blown it, try again - as long as you are breathing, there's hope!

Here's the same quote with more details ...

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

Hang in there ... step by step you can do it!

Everyone struggles in different areas. What goals are hardest for you to reach?

I'll go first.

I struggle with keeping my house and things organized - I always figure I'll get to it tomorrow and tomorrow never comes. Why don't I just do a little every day even if it's painful (which its not really pain, just annoying) and have the joy of an organized house?

I'll pony up two. One that I've accomplished but still have to be aware of, and one that is aggrevated by the success of the first.

I quit smoking a couple of years ago. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, because I truly enjoyed it. I knew I had to quit because of the health risks and the expense... but there isn't a day that goes by when I don't want to smoke. The urge has subsided to a manageable level now, of course, but its still there.

My current quest is to control my automatic sarcastic response when something irritates me. I tend to snark big-time in real life, and that impulse has been amplified since I gave up the smokes. Its something that I'm aware of and struggle constantly to reign in.

I'm sort of ambidextrous in expressing myself - I can be overtly aggressive and passively aggressive with equal vigor :)

Keeping negativity at bay is something I must practice every day.

I'm printing this page and hanging it up over my desk. I am so tired of lugging around these extra 50 pounds. I want 'em gone. Thank you for the inspiration!
